Mass Renaming & Restoring USB Drives
I recently had to rename a lot of files in directory as well as fix a broken USB drive. I reckon I’ll need to use this again at some point so here are the tips. Both for me and for you!

One day till Ubuntu goodness!
Lucid Lynx Ubuntu 10.04 is the new Ubuntu due out in a day.

Fully back on the 64
A while back I heaped praise on the Ubuntuzilla project for providing me a way to watch all Flash content without the need to wrap 32 bit plugins. This was extremely useful to me but I knew that it would always be a temporary thing.
Checking out google chrome on linux
Considering it is a beta still, it is pretty good. I have to reset up my plugins and the extensions aren’t as good as they are on Firefox but blimey is it quick.
The one thing I’d like to see from Firefox now is speed. Speed to start and speed to roam.
First post of the decade!
Wow! First post of the decade, blah blah blah blah how cool etc etc.
Right now this is mostly for my amusement but may be useful to someone else too.

Work laptop upgraded to Karmic
I upgraded my work laptop to the IBM Ubuntu reeeeeemix. I’m very impressed with the ease Ubuntu can be customised and how well that works with installations/ upgrades. Fantastic stuff.
Beta testing karma
I’ve not checked in for a long time but let me briefly let you know what I’ve been up to.
I’m testing the new Ubuntu release of Karmic Koala. It is in beta now and should be released at the end of October. Unfortunately I’m away on holiday in Thailand when it comes out so I wanted to have a little play around before I went. And I’ve already raised three bug reports on Launchpad already. Minor difficulties but overall it is an improvement.

Why 64?
A combination of a 64 bit build of Ubuntu, 9.04, 64 bit flash and an absurd naming of Firefox 3.5 have driven me to install a 32 build of Firefox onto my 64 bit machine. It means I can run flash 32 natively and without glitches and that my internet bank now recognises Firefox 3.5 instead of Shiretoko which it blocks access to.

No new posts in a while
So what have I been doing since I last posted here?
Not much. Work sleep work sleep work sleep work. That’s about it.
