Deconstructing Tweets

As part of my personal project for Spring, and to coincide with the UK 2015 General Election, I decided to create some bots that mirrored the main party candidates and translated their tweets to Jive. They are still running so you can find them on Twitter: Ed Jiveaband, Nick Jivegg, David Jiveron.

One of the more interesting problems that I faced was how to prevent special Tweet Entities being erroneously translated by the Jive translator. You may be asking what is a Tweet Entity? Let me explain about them first and then go on to explain how I can tackle such a problem.

The Jive Election 2015

Throughout March and April of 2015 I have been busy working on a pet project with my friend Ricky Shelton. The idea was simple. Make the politicians running in the 2015 UK General Election more electable by having them speak Jive.

Roasted Spicy Chicken With Rice

I spotted this recipe for spicy chicken wings on Google+ and thought I would give it a go. I wanted to put my own spin on it which is why I opted for chicken legs instead of wings and modified some of the ingredients. I also didn’t want to buy thirty chicken wings! The recipe does use ketchup but bear with me, it’s not that bad.

Shopping for a bathroom

One of the exciting events to happen this year is that we are buying our first house. We are moving just down the road in Bristol to a three bedroom terraced house. The house itself is a Victorian house that has been recently renovated so needs minimal work once we move in.

Watching TV

I have become very addicted to streaming video and TV series in particular. Netflix has been my go to choice for this. Although I also still enjoy traditional methods.

Hello 2015!!

I started off last year with a blog post and then got side tracked. And then throughout the year I got side tracked some more. And then, well……… I sort of was on a roll with getting side tracked and decided to not post any recipes, geeky updates, random blog thoughts for the entire year. Well we started a new year this week and I’d like to make amends!
